One Smashing Performance.
"Tell the one about the Little Green Pig."
I watched the 3pm matinee of "The Pillowman" yesterday and I'll recommend it to anyone who likes dark humour, because yes, this comedic play is rather dark. The main story is about a writer, Katurian, being held for interrogation by the police in a totalitarian state. Katurian, a man behind 400 short stories is held for suspicion of child murders. The dialogue is amusing, but Katurian's stories are mostly gruesome and disturbing, be it depicted by verse or by the projections on the prop walls.
The play is rated NC16 for several reasons. Language, use of violence, scenes of torture, disturbing themes, drug use and
semi-semi-partial nudity when Katurian takes off his pants. Thankfully, we don't see his bare ass. All in all, very good play. Use of actual cigarettes, lighter fluid and fire. Impressive. Maybe I should start watching more plays.
